Wittaya Pised (Taem) was born to farming parents from Nong Kleua in Thailand's North East province. Tending to the family's buffalo or working the soil, he began translating the beauty around him into pictures as early as he can remember. His inner talent was recognized and he was presented the highest award in his province for water colors artwork whilst still in high school.
Taem moved to Bangkok at the age of 20 to study Political Science but continued to paint in private. Word soon got out among his friends and within Bangkok art circles. Some of Thailand's established artists began to support him, taking his art from the City of Angels to San Francisco, Amsterdam, London, Zurich and New York.
His work comes straight from the heart. The subtle images and colors in his work reflect the simplicity of his early life, his country and his commitment to Lord Buddha. His boyhood as a farmer, and life as a working student and developing artist still inspire him to use simple everyday materials which are discarded by others. His inspiration from the lotus shapes and defines the character of his work and marks it most definitively as a 'Wittaya Pised' art piece.
